Common Lizard or Viviparous Lizard (Zootoca vivipara) with a broken tail. This species will lose its tail if trapped or caught by a predator. I think this is a female due to the flat body, stripe patterns on its back, and whitish underparts. It is in the process of shedding its skin. Photo taken in Darfield, Barnsley, South Yorkshire on 14 August 2012. Camera: Nikon D300 Lens: Nikon 18-200MM F3.5-5.6G IF-ED AF-S VR DX I use my photos as inspiration and reference for my paintings which can be seen at: www.stevegreaves.com
